The GPs in the surgery provide a few services such as pre-employment medicals, HGV or taxi medicals, insurance reports and adoption/fostering medicals. These services are not covered by the NHS and therefore attract a fee.
If you have been asked to telephone the surgery for a result, please ring 222121 for Clacton and 820309 for St Osyth after 10am. This allows the doctors time to complete the appropriate paperwork.
The practice has a strict policy regarding confidentiality and data protection. We will only release test results to the person to whom they relate unless that person has given prior permission for the release of this data or they are not capable of understanding the results.
St James and St Osyth Surgery are very pleased to announce that we have now joined the C-Card Scheme to be an outlet to supply free condoms to people under 25 years old and this is available at both surgeries. This is a very discrete and confidential service offered to people who have been assessed and have a C-Card which is provided by various Assessment Centres.

We do offer various other Family Planning Services within the surgery, so if you wish to discuss all options please make an appointment with your GP on 01255 422482 for Clacton and 01255 820309 for St Osyth.
For more information on all contraception please visit:-
North East Essex also runs several Family Planning Clinics around the area as these are as follows:
Essex County Hospital - OPD, Lexden Road, Colchester
Please note that occasionally it is necessary to change the days and times of these clinics so please always phone the 24 hour family planning answer line on 01206 868686 to check before attending.
Also some procedures are not available at all clinics, i.e Implants (fitting and removal), coils (fitting and removal) and cervical smears. If you require one of these please phone 01206 747815 before 12.00 pm for advice.
AS ALWAYS ANY DETAILS OR INFORMATION GIVEN TO ANY MEMBER OF STAFF AT THE FAMILY PLANNING CLINICS OR THE SURGERY WILL REMAIN CONFIDENTIAL.
Having a blood test used to mean a long wait at the hospital but we are now able to make appointments for this to be done at the Reckitts Lodge at Clacton Hospital who are doing the majority of blood tests for St James surgery.
We did try offering blood tests in the Clacton surgery but the waiting room was overcrowded and we just could not accommodate this facility at St James.
It is an appointment run clinic and not a "take a number" clinic.
Please telephone St James Surgery on 01255 222121 to make an appointment for blood tests.
We still have limited appointments available at our St Osyth surgery on a Tuesday morning.
Reckitts Lodge is the building opposite the old part of the hospital building and is well signposted.
